How to Cancel Incogni: Auto-Renewal, Refunds and Your Data
How to cancel Incogni's auto-renewal, get a refund inside the 30-day window, cancel through Surfshark or Coveron bundles, and delete your account and data afterward.
To cancel Incogni, turn off automatic renewal in your Incogni account (its terms point to the “Subscription & plan” section of your profile) or ask Incogni’s customer support to do it for you. You keep the service until the end of the period you’ve paid for. If you’re within 30 days of your first purchase, you can also ask support for a refund under Incogni’s money-back guarantee, which is a separate request.
That’s the short version for people who bought Incogni directly on its website. If you got Incogni through Surfshark, a Coveron plan or another reseller, you cancel with that company instead. This guide covers each route, the refund rules, what happens to your data and your removal requests afterward, and how to keep some protection once you’ve left. Everything here comes from Incogni’s own terms of service (last updated September 14, 2026), its privacy policy (last updated September 8, 2026) and its pricing page, checked in September 2026. Terms change, so read the current versions before you act.
First, work out where you bought Incogni
Who you pay decides who can cancel your subscription and who can refund it. Check your bank or card statement and the email receipt from when you signed up. The charge will usually name the seller.
| Where you bought it | Who cancels it | Who handles refunds |
|---|---|---|
| Incogni’s website | You, in your Incogni account, or Incogni support | Incogni, under its 30-day money-back terms |
| Surfshark One+ bundle | Surfshark, from your Surfshark account or via Surfshark support | Surfshark, under its own terms |
| A Coveron plan that includes Incogni | Coveron, through your Nord Account billing settings | Coveron, under its own terms |
| Another reseller | That reseller | That reseller (Incogni’s terms say it can’t refund purchases made elsewhere) |
Incogni’s terms make one exception: if your purchase went through Paddle, the payment company Incogni uses, Incogni says it can process the refund itself.
How to cancel Incogni if you bought it directly
Incogni’s terms of service describe two ways to stop automatic renewal. We haven’t reproduced the exact screens, because layouts change, but the route is simple.
- Sign in to your Incogni account on the website.
- Open your profile and find the subscription section. Incogni’s terms call it “Subscription & plan”. If the wording has changed, look for anything labeled subscription, plan or billing.
- Turn off automatic renewal and confirm. Save or screenshot the confirmation.
- If you can’t find the option, contact Incogni’s customer support and ask them to cancel your automatic renewal. Its terms say support can do this for you. Its pricing page says support is available 24/7.
- Check your email for a confirmation, and keep it until the renewal date has passed without a charge.
According to the terms, canceling automatic renewal only stops future charges. You keep access to the service until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and removal work continues during that time.
Turning off auto-renewal vs deleting your account
These are two different actions, and Incogni treats them differently.
- Canceling automatic renewal stops future payments. Your account and the service stay active until the paid period ends.
- Deleting your account is also allowed at any time, according to Incogni’s terms, but deleted accounts aren’t refunded for any unused time. The terms also say a deletion request is not a refund request. If you’re eligible for the 30-day refund, you need to ask support for it separately.
For most people the sensible order is: cancel automatic renewal first, request a refund if you qualify, and only then decide whether to delete the account. Deleting first can leave you without a way to track the refund.
Incogni’s refund rules (as of September 2026)
Incogni advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee on all plans. Its pricing page says to contact the 24/7 support team within 30 days of signing up for a full refund. The terms of service add the conditions:
- Initial purchase only. The guarantee covers your first purchase. Once a subscription has renewed, it can’t be refunded under the guarantee, unless applicable law says otherwise.
- One refund per customer. The terms say you’re entitled to one refund under the guarantee, even if you sign up again later. Incogni identifies you by your authorization form or payment details.
- Some countries get renewal refunds. For subscriptions longer than a month that renewed and were bought from Germany (after March 1, 2022), the Netherlands or the UK, the terms allow a full refund within 30 days of the renewal charge, or a partial refund after that.
- Exceptions at Incogni’s discretion. Outside the 30 days, the terms say Incogni may consider a partial refund if you can show the service wasn’t available or usable and you tried to contact them about it.
- Currency. Incogni says it processes payments in USD and EUR and refunds in the original currency. Your bank’s conversion fees aren’t refunded.
Terms change, so check Incogni’s current terms of service before you rely on any of these points.
Canceling Incogni bought through Surfshark or Coveron
Incogni comes bundled with some other products. As of September 2026, Surfshark includes Incogni in its One+ bundle, and Coveron (formerly NordProtect) adds NordVPN and Incogni to its Full plans. In both cases you cancel with the company you pay, not with Incogni.
Surfshark One+
Surfshark’s terms of service (July 13, 2026) say that if you bought directly from Surfshark you can turn off auto-renewal from your Surfshark account at any time, or email Surfshark support to cancel it. The important catch: canceling a bundled subscription means losing access to every service in the bundle. Surfshark’s terms say you can’t cancel one service and keep the others. Surfshark’s 30-day money-back guarantee covers the initial purchase only.
Coveron
Coveron’s terms (effective August 12, 2026) say you cancel auto-renewal from the billing section of your Nord Account, and that canceling also applies to any bundled subscriptions. Its 30-day money-back guarantee applies to the first purchase only, not renewals. Incogni’s own terms add that anyone who bought through resellers such as Surfshark or NordVPN manages their subscription through those platforms.
What happens to your data and removal requests after you cancel
People often worry that canceling undoes the work. It doesn’t, but it does stop the upkeep.
- Requests already sent stay sent. Once Incogni has sent a removal request to a data broker, the broker handles it under its own policies. Incogni’s terms say it can’t control what brokers do with your information after it’s sent, and that it doesn’t guarantee brokers will fulfill requests.
- Repeat requests stop. Incogni’s pricing page says annual plans include resending removal requests so your data doesn’t reappear. When your subscription ends, that stops. Data brokers can and do relist people, so expect some listings to come back over time.
- Incogni keeps some data for a while. Its privacy policy says the data needed to provide the service is kept for no longer than 24 months after the service ends, or until you ask for deletion and no legal restriction applies. It keeps a copy of your signed authorization, and records of customer support conversations are kept for six years after the last ticket activity. Payment providers may keep payment data longer for legal reasons.
Whether a removal sticks after you leave depends on the broker, the laws where you live and whether your details get resold. Our guide to whether data removal services are worth it explains why no paid service can make removal permanent.
How to ask Incogni to delete your personal data
If you want Incogni itself to delete what it holds about you, make a privacy request rather than relying on account deletion alone. Incogni’s privacy policy says:
- California and other US state residents can submit privacy requests, including deletion requests under the CCPA, by emailing support@incogni.com.
- EU and UK residents have a right to deletion under the GDPR and UK GDPR, exercised by contacting the same address.
- Exceptions apply. Incogni can keep information it’s legally required to keep, or has a legal basis to keep.
A short, clear email works best. For example:
Subject: Account cancellation and data deletion request. I have canceled my Incogni subscription for the account registered to [email address]. Please delete the personal information you hold about me, including my removal profile, under [the CCPA / the GDPR / applicable privacy law]. Please confirm when this is done and tell me what, if anything, you are required to keep.
If you’re on a Family plan and want to remove a member rather than cancel, Incogni’s terms say the plan administrator can ask support to terminate a member’s account, and that account is deleted 30 days after the request.
Common mistakes when canceling
- Canceling on Incogni when you pay Surfshark or Coveron. The charge comes from the reseller, so that’s where the cancellation has to happen.
- Deleting the account and assuming that’s a refund request. Incogni’s terms say it isn’t. Ask support separately.
- Waiting until after renewal. After a renewal, the 30-day guarantee no longer applies in most countries.
- Forgetting the rest of a bundle. Canceling Surfshark One+ ends the VPN and other bundled services too.
- Going straight to a chargeback. Contact the company first. See the next section.
If you’re charged after canceling
Start with the seller. Send support your cancellation confirmation and ask for the charge to be reversed, and give it the chance to fix a billing error.
If that fails, you can ask your card issuer about disputing the charge. The FTC explains that the Fair Credit Billing Act sets out a dispute process for billing errors on credit cards, and that you should write to the issuer so your letter arrives within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Treat a dispute as a last resort, keep copies of everything, and talk to your card issuer or a consumer lawyer if you’re unsure. This isn’t legal advice.

Leaving a paid service doesn’t mean giving up on privacy. There are free options, though they take more of your time. Our own products don’t do credit monitoring, identity theft insurance or breach monitoring; they focus on what shows up when people search your name.
- Do the opt-outs yourself. Our data broker opt-out list and the guide to removing yourself from people search sites walk through the main brokers one by one. Re-check every few months, because listings come back.
- Use free government and platform tools. California residents can use the state’s free DROP platform to send one deletion request to registered data brokers. Google’s “Results about you” tool lets you ask Google to remove search results that show your contact details. Our guide to free data removal services covers these.
- Watch what shows up for your name. Our free Reputation Scanner is launching soon. It’s a self-search tool that will find harmful results about you, rank the most serious ones, and draft removal requests you review and send yourself, with no account and no billing.
- Compare other paid services if you still want someone else to do the work. Our Incogni alternatives guide compares the main options.
If the problem is bigger than data broker listings, such as news articles, reviews or posts about you, our personal reputation management team can look at it through a free audit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cancel Incogni at any time?
Yes. Incogni’s pricing page says “Cancel anytime”, and its terms let you turn off automatic renewal in your account or through customer support at any time. You keep the service until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Will Incogni refund me if I cancel?
If it’s within 30 days of your first purchase from Incogni’s website, you can ask support for a full refund under its money-back terms, once per customer. Renewals generally aren’t covered, with exceptions in some countries, and purchases through resellers are refunded by the reseller. Check Incogni’s current terms before you ask.
How do I cancel Incogni if I got it with Surfshark?
Cancel through your Surfshark account or Surfshark support. Surfshark’s terms say canceling a bundle ends access to every service in it, so you can’t keep the VPN and drop Incogni.
Does canceling Incogni undo my data removals?
No. Requests already sent to brokers stay with those brokers. But Incogni stops re-sending requests after your subscription ends, so some listings may reappear over time. Plan to re-check the main people search sites yourself.
Does deleting my Incogni account delete my data?
Account deletion ends your use of the service, but Incogni’s privacy policy says it may keep service data for up to 24 months after the service ends unless you ask for deletion. Email a privacy request to support@incogni.com if you want it deleted sooner, subject to legal exceptions.
