How to Cancel Spokeo: Membership, Trials, Refunds and Your Listing
How to cancel a Spokeo membership through your account or customer support, what to check about trials and refunds, and why removing your own Spokeo listing is a separate, free step.
To cancel Spokeo, cancel with whoever bills you. For most people that’s Spokeo itself: log in to your Spokeo account and turn off the membership in your account or billing settings, or contact Spokeo’s customer support and ask them to cancel it. If the charge on your statement names Apple or Google, cancel in that store’s subscription settings instead. Keep written confirmation either way.
One honest caveat before the details. When we checked in September 2026, Spokeo’s website, help center, terms of use and privacy policy all returned a “403 Forbidden” error to our automated checks, so we couldn’t read Spokeo’s current cancellation steps, trial terms, refund policy or contact details. We haven’t guessed at them. This guide gives you the routes that work whatever Spokeo’s screens look like, tells you what to check in your own account, and flags where you should read Spokeo’s own pages before acting.
Canceling a membership is not removing your listing
People who search “how to cancel Spokeo” usually want one of two things:
| If you want to… | Do this | Account needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Stop paying for a Spokeo membership | Cancel the membership (this guide) | Yes, or your account details |
| Stop your own profile showing on Spokeo | Use Spokeo’s free opt-out (see our removal guide) | No |
| Both | Cancel, then opt out every profile that’s yours | Only for canceling |
Canceling a membership does nothing to your own listing, and opting out does nothing to your billing. Our guide on how to remove yourself from Spokeo covers the opt-out, including how to find duplicate profiles. As that guide explains from Spokeo’s own help pages, each listing needs its own request. For background on the company itself, including its 2012 FTC settlement, see whether Spokeo is a legitimate business.
Step 1: Work out who is billing you
Before anything else, find the charge on your card or bank statement and your sign-up receipt. The name on the charge tells you where to cancel.
- The charge names Spokeo. You bought directly, so you cancel with Spokeo.
- The charge names Apple or Google. You bought through an app store, so cancel in that store’s own subscription settings. The seller can’t cancel an app store subscription for you.
- The charge names another company. You may have signed up through a partner or reseller offer. Cancel with the company that charges you, and ask it whether a Spokeo membership was attached.
On the app side, Apple’s App Store lists one app from Spokeo, Inc., called Spokeo AI (version 3.3.1, updated September 5, 2026, when we checked). Its listing says it requires a Spokeo account to log in, and it showed no in-app purchases. So a Spokeo charge is unlikely to come through that app, but check your Apple and Google subscription lists anyway if you use either store.
Step 2: Cancel a membership you bought from Spokeo
Because we couldn’t read Spokeo’s help pages this month, these steps stay general. They’re the routes that exist on nearly every subscription site, and your account will show the exact labels.
- Log in on Spokeo’s own site. Type the address yourself rather than following an ad or an email link.
- Open your account area. Look for settings labeled account, membership, subscription or billing.
- Find the membership and cancel or turn off renewal. Follow the prompts to the end. Retention offers are common on subscription sites, so read each screen and decline any offer you don’t want.
- Look for a confirmation. Screenshot the final screen and wait for a confirmation email.
- If you can’t find the option, contact Spokeo’s customer support. Use the support or contact details in your account, your welcome email or your receipt. Give your account email and ask in writing for the membership to be canceled.
- Check your next statement. Keep the confirmation until the next billing date passes with no charge.
A written request leaves a clear record:
Subject: Cancel my Spokeo membership. Please cancel my Spokeo membership and all recurring charges on the account registered to [email]. The most recent charge was [amount] on [date]. Please confirm in writing that the membership is canceled and will not renew.
Step 3: Cancel an app store subscription
If Apple or Google bills you, cancel in that store’s subscription settings, which you’ll find in your Apple ID or Google Play account. Deleting the app doesn’t stop billing on either platform. Refund requests for app store purchases also normally go to the store, not the app’s developer.
Trials and automatic renewal
People-search sites often sell short, low-cost trials that turn into a recurring membership if you don’t cancel. We couldn’t confirm whether Spokeo currently offers a trial, how long it lasts or what it converts into. What you can do:
- Find the offer you accepted. Your sign-up confirmation or receipt email should state the trial length, what you’ll be charged after it and how often.
- Cancel early. If you only wanted the trial, cancel as soon as you’ve got what you needed rather than on the last day.
- Check for more than one plan. Some sites sell add-ons or separate report purchases alongside a membership. Look through your billing history for anything else that recurs.
Refunds
We couldn’t read Spokeo’s refund policy, so we won’t tell you what it says. The practical approach is the same everywhere: ask. Email or message Spokeo’s support, say when you were charged and why you want a refund (for example, a trial that converted before you’d canceled), and ask for a written answer. Keep it polite and factual. If the charge came through Apple or Google, request the refund from the store.
If you’re charged after canceling
Send support your cancellation confirmation and ask for the charge to be reversed. Give them a chance to fix it. If that fails, you can ask your card issuer about a dispute as a last resort. The FTC explains that the Fair Credit Billing Act sets out a dispute process for credit card billing errors, and that your letter should reach the issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Many subscription terms also include arbitration clauses, so keep copies of everything and talk to your card issuer or a consumer lawyer if you’re unsure. This isn’t legal advice.

On most subscription sites, canceling stops renewal but leaves your account in place, often with access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. We couldn’t confirm how Spokeo handles saved searches or reports after cancellation, so download or note anything you need before you cancel.
If you want Spokeo to delete what it holds about you as a customer, make a privacy request rather than relying on cancellation. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to ask a covered business to delete your personal information. California’s privacy law gives that right, and a growing number of other states have comprehensive privacy laws with similar rights. Look for the privacy request route in Spokeo’s current privacy policy.
Subject: Deletion request. I have canceled my Spokeo membership for the account registered to [email]. Under [the CCPA / my state’s privacy law], please delete the personal information you hold about me as a customer, including my account and search history, and confirm what, if anything, you are required to keep.
California residents can also use the state’s free DROP platform to send one deletion request to registered data brokers. Our guide to the California Delete Act explains how it works.
A worked example
This is an illustrative scenario, not a real client.
Janelle signs up for Spokeo to find an old college roommate’s contact details. Five weeks later she notices two recurring charges she didn’t expect.
- She checks her statement. Both charges name Spokeo, so she knows to cancel on the website, not in an app store.
- She logs in and looks through the account and billing settings, turns off the membership and screenshots the confirmation.
- She emails support with the dates and amounts of both charges and asks for a refund of the most recent one. She keeps the reply.
- She searches her own name on Spokeo, finds two profiles and opts each one out separately.
Common mistakes
- Canceling in the wrong place. Check who bills you first.
- Deleting the app. It never cancels a subscription.
- Relying on third-party instructions. Screens and policies change. Spokeo’s own current pages and your account are the authority.
- No written record. Save the confirmation screen and any emails.
- Assuming canceling hides your profile. Use the opt-out for each listing that’s yours.
Other people-search memberships to check
If you signed up for Spokeo while looking someone up, you may have tried other report sites too. Our guides on how to cancel BeenVerified and how to cancel TruthFinder cover two common ones. If you’re switching rather than stopping, our look at how BeenVerified compares with Spokeo sets out what each site states about pricing and permitted use.
After you cancel: protecting your own details
If you’re also listed, the free route is our data broker opt-out list and our guide to removing yourself from people search sites. Our free Reputation Scanner is launching soon. It’s a self-search tool that will find harmful results about you, rank the most serious, and draft removal requests you review and send yourself, with no account and no billing. We don’t offer credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, breach monitoring or antivirus. When people-search listings are only part of the problem, our personal reputation management team can look at the rest through a free audit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my Spokeo membership?
Cancel with whoever bills you. For a membership bought from Spokeo, log in and cancel from your account or billing settings, or ask Spokeo’s customer support in writing. For an Apple or Google purchase, cancel in that store’s subscription settings.
Does canceling Spokeo remove my information from Spokeo?
No. Canceling only ends your membership. To remove your own profile, use Spokeo’s free opt-out for each listing that’s yours. Our removal guide explains how.
Can I get a refund from Spokeo?
We couldn’t confirm Spokeo’s refund policy in September 2026 because its pages blocked our checks. Ask Spokeo’s support in writing, and read its current terms. App store purchases are usually refunded by Apple or Google.
Will deleting the Spokeo app cancel my subscription?
No. Deleting an app never cancels a subscription. Cancel in your Spokeo account, or in Apple’s or Google’s subscription settings if the store bills you.
