To delete your Fiverr account, sign in on the website, open your account settings and look for the option to deactivate your account. Fiverr calls closing an account “deactivation”, and it generally won’t let you deactivate while you have open orders or an unwithdrawn balance. If you sell on Fiverr, save your reviews, portfolio and earnings records before you go, because your track record doesn’t come with you.

For buyers, leaving is simple. For freelancers, a Fiverr profile is often years of work and reputation, so this guide spends most of its time on what to finish and keep first, and on the alternatives to deleting outright.

Do you need to delete, or just step back?

If you’re a seller, deleting is the most drastic option. Consider whether a smaller step does the job.

Option What happens Good for
Pause gigs Your gigs stop taking new orders. Your profile, reviews and history stay. Too busy, taking time off, testing other platforms
Set yourself unavailable Fiverr’s availability setting tells buyers you’re away and stops new orders for a period. Holidays, illness, a busy season
Edit or delete individual gigs Removes services you no longer offer while keeping your seller profile. Changing direction
Deactivate the account Closes the account. Your profile and gigs are no longer available, and you lose access to your history. Leaving Fiverr for good, or leaving as a buyer

A strong Fiverr profile with good reviews can be a useful piece of evidence of your work, even if you now find clients elsewhere. If there’s a chance you’ll want it later, pausing is easier to undo than deactivating.

Before you deactivate: the freelancer checklist

  1. Finish or resolve every open order. Deliver, agree cancellations with buyers through Fiverr’s normal process, or wait for disputes to settle. Leaving a buyer mid-order is the fastest way to earn a bad review and a complaint on the way out.
  2. Withdraw your balance. Earnings often have a clearance period before you can withdraw them. Wait for everything to clear and withdraw it to your usual payout method. Money left in an account you close may be hard or impossible to recover.
  3. Save your reviews. Screenshot or save each review page, including the buyer’s name as shown, the date and the star rating. You can’t copy reviews to another platform, but saved examples are useful as references on your own website or when pitching direct clients. Be honest about where they came from.
  4. Save your portfolio and gig content. Download delivered files you have the right to keep, and copy your gig descriptions, pricing structures and FAQs. They took work to write.
  5. Download invoices and earnings reports. You’ll likely need them for tax records. Get them while you still have access.
  6. Tell repeat clients where to find you, within the rules. Fiverr’s terms restrict taking communication and payment off the platform while you’re working through it. Check the current rules before sharing contact details, and don’t risk a violation on your way out.
  7. Check linked logins. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook, make sure that login still works so you can complete deactivation.

Buyers have a shorter list: finish or cancel any open orders, download files you’ve paid for and save invoices you may need for expenses.

Letting regular clients know

If you have buyers who order from you often, a short note while your account is still open is courteous and protects your reputation. Send it through Fiverr’s messaging, keep it within the platform’s rules, and don’t pressure anyone to follow you.

Hi Jordan, thanks for all the projects over the last while. I’m winding down my Fiverr profile at the end of the month, so I won’t be taking new orders here after that. I’ll finish your current edit as planned. It’s been a pleasure working with you.

A clean, friendly exit leaves a better last impression than a profile that simply vanishes, and buyers remember how you handled it.

How to delete your Fiverr account

Fiverr updates its menus, so these steps are general. Searching “delete Fiverr account” in Fiverr’s help center brings up the current wording.

  1. Sign in to Fiverr in a web browser. Account deactivation is usually easiest on desktop.
  2. Open your settings and find the account section.
  3. Choose the option to deactivate your account.
  4. Select a reason if asked and confirm. If Fiverr says it can’t deactivate yet, it will usually point to what’s blocking it, such as an active order or a remaining balance.

If you want to delete a Fiverr account because it was hacked or you can’t sign in, contact Fiverr through its official help center rather than anyone offering recovery services. If someone else has taken control of the account, secure your email first. Our guide on what to do when your account was hacked walks through the order of steps.

Fiverr treats deactivation as final, and you may not be able to reuse the same username afterward. Be sure before you confirm.

What happens to your reviews and profile

After deactivation, your profile and gigs are no longer available to buyers. A few things may behave differently from what you’d expect:

  • Reviews you left for others may remain in some form on their profiles, because they’re part of the other person’s history.
  • Records Fiverr keeps. Like most marketplaces, Fiverr retains some data after an account is closed, for example transaction records for legal, tax and dispute purposes. Its privacy policy explains what and for how long. Resale marketplaces work the same way, as our guide to deleting a Poshmark account explains.
  • Search results. An old Fiverr profile can keep showing in Google for a while after it’s gone. It typically drops out once Google recrawls the page. If it lingers, Google’s tool to refresh outdated content can help, as our guide to removing outdated content from Google explains.
  • Copies elsewhere. Your gig images or profile photo may have been copied by scrapers or other sellers. A reverse image search will show you where.

If a bad review is why you’re leaving

This is common, and it’s understandable. A single harsh review can feel like it defines a profile you worked hard on. Before you delete:

  • Check whether it breaks Fiverr’s rules. Reviews that include abuse, private information or attempts at extortion can be reported to Fiverr’s support.
  • Reply professionally where the platform allows. A calm, factual reply shows future buyers how you handle problems.
  • Weigh the whole record. One critical review among many good ones rarely stops buyers.

The same principles apply on other freelance platforms. Our guide to handling a negative Upwork review covers replies and reporting in more detail.

A worked example

This scenario is illustrative, not a real client. Tomasz is a video editor who built his business on Fiverr and now has enough direct clients to leave.

  1. He paused his gigs so no new orders came in, and delivered his last three.
  2. He waited for his final earnings to clear and withdrew the balance.
  3. He saved his review pages and invoices, and copied his gig descriptions into a document.
  4. He added a small selection of reviews to his own website, labeled as reviews from Fiverr clients.
  5. He deactivated his account. A few weeks later, his old profile was gone from Google, and his website ranked for his name instead. Our guide to building a personal brand website covers that side.

Common mistakes

  • Deactivating with money still in the account. Wait for everything to clear and withdraw it.
  • Walking out on open orders. It’s unfair to buyers and invites complaints.
  • Losing the proof of your work. Save reviews, portfolio files and invoices first.
  • Breaking the rules on the way out. Sharing contact details against Fiverr’s terms can get an account restricted before you’ve withdrawn your earnings.
  • Deleting instead of pausing. If you might return, pausing keeps the reputation you built.

If an old freelance profile or an unfair review is dominating searches for your name, our personal reputation management service can help build stronger results and pursue removal where it’s possible.

Frequently asked questions

Can I delete my Fiverr account with an open order?

Generally no. Fiverr usually requires active orders to be completed or canceled before it will deactivate an account. Finish or resolve them first.

What happens to my Fiverr balance if I delete my account?

Withdraw it before you deactivate. Earnings may need to clear first, and money left in a closed account can be difficult to get back.

Can I reactivate a deleted Fiverr account?

Fiverr treats deactivation as final, so plan as if you can’t come back. If you might return, pause your gigs instead.

Does uninstalling the Fiverr app delete my account?

No. Uninstalling only removes the app from your phone. Your account, gigs and balance stay as they are until you deactivate the account in your settings.

Will my Fiverr reviews disappear if I delete my account?

Your profile and the reviews on it are no longer available to buyers. Save copies first if you want to reference them, and remember reviews you left for others may remain on their profiles.
