Birdeye Review: Features, Pricing, Contract Terms and Alternatives

A research-based Birdeye review: what the platform does, how its quote-based pricing and contract terms work as of September 2026, fair pros and cons, and the alternatives.

Birdeye is a paid, quote-based reputation and customer experience platform built mainly for multi-location businesses. It collects and replies to reviews, keeps business listings accurate, and adds AI “coworkers” for web chat, appointments, surveys and reporting. It suits a brand with several locations that wants one contract covering reviews, listings and messaging. It suits a single-location business that mostly wants to watch its reviews and reply to them far less well.

This review is research-based. We didn’t buy a subscription, book a demo or test an account. Every fact about Birdeye below comes from its own public pages (its homepage, product pages, pricing page and terms and conditions), checked in September 2026. Software changes quickly, so check Birdeye’s site and your own quote before you sign anything.

If you searched for Birdeye reviews because you want customer opinions, sites like G2 and Capterra collect those. This page does something different: it sets out what Birdeye says it does, what the contract commits you to, and where it fits.

Quick verdict

Birdeye suits you if Look elsewhere if
You run several locations and want reviews, listings and messaging under one contract You have one location and mainly want to see and answer your reviews
You want AI to draft review replies and route problems to the right team You want a published price you can compare without talking to sales
You need integrations with practice management, CRM or point-of-sale software You want a month-to-month tool you can cancel at any time
You work in healthcare and need a vendor that says it is HIPAA compliant Your real problem is a news article or search result, not reviews

What Birdeye is

As of September 2026, Birdeye’s homepage describes the company as building “AI Coworkers for Multi-location Brands.” The platform is organized around three AI coworkers, each running a set of agents:

  • Jay (marketing): AI search, reviews, listings, social, marketing automation, a website chatbot and pages.
  • Myna (operations): front desk, appointments, reminders, waitlists and insurance verification, over voice, email and text.
  • Robin (customer experience): surveys, insights, competitor tracking, ticketing and reporting.

Birdeye’s About page tells the founding story: brothers Naveen and Neeraj Gupta built it after struggling to find a surgeon with reviews they could trust. The company is based in Palo Alto, California, according to its terms. Its industry pages cover healthcare, dental, automotive, real estate, property management, restaurants, home services, financial services, legal, retail, wellness, self storage and franchises.

Key features (confirmed on Birdeye’s site)

Reviews

Birdeye’s reviews page lists three agents and two supporting tools:

  • Review generation agent. Sends review requests timed for when each customer is most likely to respond, on the channel that gets the most responses, and asks questions designed to draw out more detailed reviews.
  • Review response agent. Drafts replies in your brand voice “inside your industry rules.” It can post on its own or hold replies for your approval.
  • Review marketing agent. Picks strong reviews and turns them into branded graphics for social media and your website.
  • Review management. Every rating and review “from every site, in one place.”
  • Reputation Score. A single number per location built from ratings, review counts and responses.

Listings

Birdeye’s listings agent scans your business profiles on Google, Facebook, Apple, Yelp and Bing, which Birdeye describes as native, real-time integrations. It flags problems such as outdated hours or wrong phone numbers and recommends fixes. Birdeye says approval is required by default: nothing goes live until you sign off, and one approval can apply a fix across every location it affects. Birdeye deliberately focuses on a handful of major platforms rather than a long directory list.

Messaging, chat and other tools

  • Chatbot and webchat. An AI chatbot answers website visitors, books appointments, captures leads and hands off to a live agent, and a chat can move to text.
  • Integrations. Birdeye’s integrations page says it connects with over 3,000 software systems, in categories from dental and EHR software to CRM and point of sale.
  • Security. Birdeye says it is SOC 2 Type II certified, GDPR compliant and HIPAA compliant.
  • Payments. Its terms include a Birdeye Payments service with its own payment fees.

Birdeye pricing (as of September 2026)

Birdeye doesn’t publish prices. Its pricing page, headed “Pricing built around outcomes, not seat counts,” asks for your number of locations and a mobile number before it shows anything. The location bands on the form are 1 to 3, 4 to 9, 10 to 39, 40 to 249, 250 to 999 and 1,000 or more. The page says you “pay only for what you deploy at your locations,” which tells you the quote depends on which products you choose and how many locations use them.

We don’t quote third-party price estimates, because they can’t be checked against Birdeye’s own pages. Our Birdeye pricing guide covers what drives the quote, the fees in the terms and the questions to ask. Check Birdeye’s pricing page and your written quote for current figures.

Contract terms to read before you sign

Birdeye’s terms and conditions (effective May 13, 2026) include several points that matter more than the monthly figure:

Term What Birdeye’s terms say
Auto-renewal Agreements renew for the same length as the initial term unless you give written notice of non-renewal at least 90 days before the renewal date, unless your order form says otherwise
Renewal increase At auto-renewal, an 8% “Innovation Fee” is added to recurring service fees, unless you signed before April 1, 2024 or your contract changes it
Cancellation and refunds Payment obligations under order forms are non-cancellable and payments are non-refundable, except where the terms say otherwise
Texting fees Using text features requires A2P 10DLC carrier registration, with a one-time registration fee and ongoing campaign fees; online or self-serve small business contracts may combine them into one line called “Carrier Texting Fees”
Onboarding Onboarding “may take up to 2 hours over a 4 week period,” and delays caused by the client don’t pause the agreement
AI opt-out Where a service works without AI, you can ask to opt out of AI tools, though Birdeye warns this may limit performance

The 90-day notice window is the one most likely to catch people out. Put the notice date in your calendar the day you sign.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
Reviews, listings, chat, surveys and ticketing in one platform and one contract No published prices; you must share a phone number to get pricing
Review replies can be held for approval instead of posting automatically Auto-renewal with a 90-day notice window and an 8% fee added at renewal
Listings fixes need your approval by default Payments are non-refundable and obligations non-cancellable under the terms
Over 3,000 integrations listed, including practice management and EHR systems Carrier texting fees sit on top of the subscription
States SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA compliance Built for multi-location brands, so a small single-location business may pay for tools it won’t use

A compliance point to check in any demo

Birdeye describes its review generation agent as asking customers when they’re most likely to respond. Timing requests well is fine. What you need to confirm is that your setup still asks every customer, not only the ones you expect to be happy.

Two smaller checks. Yelp doesn’t allow businesses to ask for reviews, so don’t point request campaigns at Yelp. And if you let an AI agent post review replies on its own, healthcare, legal and financial businesses should keep approval switched on, because a reply must never confirm that someone is a patient or client.

A worked example

This is an illustrative scenario, not a real client.

A regional physical therapy group with 14 clinics is choosing between Birdeye and keeping its current setup: each clinic manager replies to Google reviews from the free Business Profile, and nobody tracks the numbers.

  1. The marketing lead lists the jobs that matter: consistent review requests after every visit, replies that never mention treatment, accurate hours on Google and Apple, and one report for the leadership team.
  2. She asks Birdeye for a quote covering reviews and listings only, and a second quote that adds the chatbot, so she can see what each piece adds.
  3. In the demo she asks to see the review response agent holding replies for approval, and confirms that review requests go to every patient.
  4. She reads the terms, notes the 90-day non-renewal window and the 8% renewal fee, and asks whether the order form changes either.
  5. She compares the total first-year cost, including texting fees, against the staff time the current process takes, then decides.

Birdeye alternatives

Our free platform (123 Reputation Management)

This one is ours, so weigh that. Our free platform does four things: it tags every page-one result for your name as positive, neutral or negative; it watches for new reviews and mentions and alerts you when one needs a reply; it tracks every result as owned pages climb and old ones slip; and it reports back every month in plain English. It is free.

It is not a like-for-like Birdeye replacement. It doesn’t send review requests by text or email, and it has no chatbot, listings sync, payments or integrations. If those are what you need, a paid tool is the closer match. If you mainly want to know what people see and when a review needs a reply, it covers that at no cost. Start with a free reputation audit.

Podium

Podium focuses on lead conversion for local businesses: texting, webchat, phones, payments and reviews in one inbox. Its three plans (Core, Pro and Signature) are all custom-priced as of September 2026. Read our Podium review or the side-by-side Birdeye vs Podium comparison.

Yext

Yext is an enterprise platform centered on listings and verified brand data, with reviews, pages, social and an AI visibility tool called Scout. It is strongest for large brands whose main concern is accurate data everywhere. See our Yext review.

Google Business Profile

Google’s own Business Profile is free, and Google says you can manage customer reviews there. For a single location that mostly needs to reply to Google reviews, it may be all you need.

For a wider list, see our roundup of Birdeye alternatives and our guide to choosing review management software.

When software isn’t the answer

Review software helps you ask for, read and answer reviews. It can’t remove a genuine negative review, and it won’t change a news article or forum thread ranking for your name. If one of those is the problem, our review management service and the audit will tell you plainly what is realistic.

Frequently asked questions

Is Birdeye legit?

Birdeye is an established software company based in Palo Alto, California, selling reputation, listings and customer experience tools, mainly to multi-location businesses. Whether it’s worth it depends on how many of its tools you’ll actually use and whether the contract terms suit you.

How much does Birdeye cost?

Birdeye doesn’t publish prices. As of September 2026, its pricing page asks for your number of locations and a mobile number, and pricing depends on the products you deploy at your locations. Ask for a written quote and check the renewal terms before you sign.

Can you cancel Birdeye at any time?

Not under its standard terms. Birdeye’s terms say agreements auto-renew for the same period unless you give written notice at least 90 days before renewal, and payment obligations are non-cancellable. Check your order form, which can change these terms.

Does Birdeye have a free trial?

We didn’t find a free trial offered on the Birdeye pages we checked in September 2026. Its main calls to action are demos and a pricing form. Ask sales directly if a trial or pilot matters to you.

Can Birdeye remove negative reviews?

No review tool can remove genuine negative reviews. Birdeye helps you collect, monitor and reply to reviews. Reviews that break a platform’s rules, such as fake or conflict-of-interest reviews, can be reported to that platform, which makes the decision.
