Yext is a paid platform that keeps a business’s location data (names, addresses, hours, categories and more) accurate across search engines, maps, directories and AI assistants, with review management, local pages, social tools and an AI visibility tracker built on top. Today it positions itself for enterprise brands with many locations. It suits a large brand whose biggest risk is wrong or inconsistent information across many sites and apps. It suits a single-location business that mainly wants to watch and answer its reviews far less well.

This review is research-based. We didn’t buy a plan, book a demo or test an account. Every fact about Yext below comes from its own public pages (its homepage, platform pages and About page), checked in September 2026. Products and prices change, so check Yext’s site and your own quote before you sign.

Looking for Yext reviews from customers? Software directories such as G2 and Capterra collect those. This page covers what Yext says it does, what we could confirm about pricing, and where it fits.

What Yext is

As of September 2026, Yext’s homepage calls it an “Enterprise Agentic Marketing Platform.” The idea is that AI tools and search engines are only as accurate as the data they draw on, so Yext keeps a verified record of your brand (its Knowledge Graph) and sends it directly to publishers and AI platforms.

Yext’s About page gives the history. Howard Lerman and Brian Distelburger started it in 2006 as a lead generation service. In 2012 it turned its focus to listings, it listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2017, and Michael Walrath became CEO in 2022. Its platform menu now includes Hearsay Social and Hearsay Relate, compliance-focused social and messaging tools for financial advisors.

Key features (confirmed on Yext’s site)

Listings

  • Direct publisher network. Yext says its distribution agent pushes your data directly to 200+ publishers and AI platforms in real time, without going through a data aggregator.
  • Listings Verifier. Checks live publisher data against your Knowledge Graph to find and fix errors, duplicates and overwrites.
  • 50+ fields. Categories, keywords, FAQs, photos and more, formatted to each publisher’s standards.
  • Analytics. Impressions, clicks, calls and directions by publisher and location.
  • Governance. Role-based approvals, audit trails and encryption for multi-location teams.

Reviews

  • Monitoring of reviews from Google, Facebook, Yelp and 80+ platforms in one dashboard, with alerts.
  • Review requests by email, text or QR code, with an algorithm that Yext says routes requests to the platforms AI trusts most.
  • AI-drafted replies that you approve, or automatic responses where you choose.
  • Review marketing, including embedding reviews on your site and pushing star ratings into Google Ads.
  • Sentiment analysis and competitor benchmarking by location.

Scout (AI visibility)

Scout tracks how your brand appears across Google Search, Google Maps and Google AI Overviews, plus ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. It benchmarks each location against your 20 closest competitors, shows which sources AI platforms cite, and recommends fixes that Yext’s agents can carry out. Scout also has a mobile app.

Other products

Yext also sells local Pages, Social tools for multi-location posting, and a Search product for your own website.

Yext pricing (as of September 2026)

Yext’s main site doesn’t show a pricing page in its navigation, and yext.com/pricing returned a “not found” page when we checked. The main calls to action are “Get a demo” and “Contact sales,” so for most buyers pricing is quote-based.

An old single-location plans page still loads at yext.com/plans, but its footer carries a 2018 copyright and it isn’t linked from Yext’s current navigation. It is likely out of date, so we don’t treat its figures as current prices. Yext’s current site doesn’t state contract length or renewal terms either, so ask for both in writing with your quote.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
Direct connections to 200+ publishers and AI platforms, without an aggregator Enterprise positioning; most pricing is only available through sales
Reviews, listings, pages and AI visibility tracking on one data source No current published prices to compare before a sales call
Approval workflows, audit trails and role-based access for large teams Contract and renewal terms aren’t stated on its current site
Scout tracks visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity as well as Google More than a single-location business usually needs
Review requests by email, text or QR code, with AI-drafted replies you can approve Review requests are one part of a bigger platform, not its core

What to check in a Yext demo

Yext’s review tools route requests toward particular sites. That’s fine, but check two things.

  • Keep Yelp out of request campaigns. Yelp doesn’t allow businesses to ask for reviews, even though Yext can monitor Yelp reviews.
  • Keep approval on for sensitive industries. Healthcare and financial businesses should review AI-drafted replies before they post; a reply must never confirm that someone is a patient or client.
  • Ask which publishers your plan covers. The 200+ figure is the network; confirm the ones in your contract.

A worked example

This is an illustrative scenario, not a real client.

A 60-branch credit union keeps finding old branch hours on map apps after closures and holiday changes, and its marketing team has started seeing AI assistants give members wrong phone numbers.

  1. The team lists every place branch data appears and which ones members actually use.
  2. In a Yext demo, it asks to see the Listings Verifier catch a duplicate and the approval workflow for a change.
  3. It asks Scout to show how two branches appear in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews against nearby competitors.
  4. It checks whether reviews are included in the quote or priced separately, and confirms the contract length and renewal terms in writing.
  5. It compares the quote with the staff time now spent correcting listings by hand, then decides.

Our free platform (123 Reputation Management)

This one is ours, so weigh that. Our free platform tags every page-one result for your name as positive, neutral or negative; watches for new reviews and mentions and alerts you when one needs a reply; tracks every result as owned pages climb and old ones slip; and reports back every month in plain English. It’s free.

It is not a listings tool. It doesn’t sync your data to publishers, send review requests, or connect to other software. If accurate listings across many locations is your need, a paid tool fits better. If you want to know what people see when they search for you, start with a free reputation audit.

Birdeye

Birdeye focuses its listings tool on Google, Facebook, Apple, Yelp and Bing and adds reviews, chat, appointments and surveys for multi-location brands. See our Birdeye review.

Podium

Podium is built around texting, calls, webchat and payments, with review requests by text. It suits local businesses whose leads arrive by phone and message. See our Podium review.

Doing it yourself

A single location can manage its main listings free. Google Business Profile is free, and our guides to Apple Business Connect and Bing Places cover two more. For a wider list, see our Yext alternatives, or ask us about Google Business Profile management.

Frequently asked questions

Is Yext worth it?

For large brands with many locations, keeping data accurate across 200+ publishers and AI platforms from one place can save a lot of manual work. For one location, you can usually manage Google, Apple and Bing yourself for free.

How much does Yext cost?

As of September 2026, Yext doesn’t publish current pricing; its site directs you to a demo or sales. An old 2018 plans page is still online but is likely out of date, so ask Yext for a written quote.

What happens to my listings if I cancel Yext?

Yext’s current site doesn’t say, as of September 2026. Ask Yext in writing before you sign, keep your own master record of your business details, and make sure your Google Business Profile is owned by your own account.

Does Yext manage reviews?

Yes. Its reviews product monitors Google, Facebook, Yelp and 80+ other platforms, sends review requests by email, text or QR code, and drafts AI replies you can approve.

Can Yext remove negative reviews or search results?

No. Yext manages your own data and replies. Genuine negative reviews can’t be removed by any software, and reviews that break a platform’s rules have to be reported to that platform.
