Meltwater Pricing: Plans, Contract Terms and What Drives the Quote
Meltwater doesn't publish prices. Here's what its pricing page shows as of September 2026: four plans, the factors behind a quote, its 12-month contracts, renewal terms and cheaper options.
Meltwater doesn’t publish prices. As of September 2026, its pricing page lists four plans (Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency), and every one says “Contact Sales.” Meltwater says it uses “tailored pricing,” with each quote based on your goals, the modules you choose and the scale of your program. Most contracts are annual with a 12-month minimum, and its standard US terms renew automatically unless you give 60 days’ written notice.
This guide covers what Meltwater publishes about its plans, the cost factors it names, the contract terms to check, what to ask sales, and the cheaper or free options. Everything about Meltwater here comes from its own pricing page and published terms, checked in September 2026. We don’t repeat third-party price estimates, because they can’t be checked against Meltwater’s own pages. Pricing changes, so check Meltwater’s site and your written proposal.
Meltwater’s plans (as of September 2026)
Meltwater’s pricing page is headed “Built for every stage of your growth.” It shows four plans with no dollar figures. Each plan lets you “choose your capabilities” from a list of modules:
| Plan | Price | Best for (Meltwater’s words) | Key features listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Contact sales | Small comms and marketing teams, startups and scale-ups, limited in-house analytics | Mira AI, alerts and reporting, pre-built dashboards |
| Pro | Contact sales | Regional teams, multi-channel marketing orgs, data-driven comms teams | Mira AI Advanced, competitive benchmarking, custom dashboards and reporting |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Leading and global brands, multiple markets and stakeholders, advanced analytics | Mira AI enterprise-grade, API and MCP integrations, governance, workflows and permissions |
| Agency | Contact sales | Agencies from a few clients to large global portfolios | Mira AI Advanced, API and MCP integrations, governance, workflows and permissions |
The capabilities you can choose on Starter and Pro are media intelligence, social listening, AI visibility tracking and media relations. Enterprise and Agency add influencer marketing to that list. The plan comparison table also lists a customer support level for each plan, so ask which one your proposal includes. Meltwater also says it provides 24/7 multi-channel support for all customers, including live chat and email.
So the honest answer to “how much does Meltwater cost?” is that it depends on your proposal. A single figure you see elsewhere isn’t coming from Meltwater’s own pricing page.
What drives the cost of a Meltwater quote
Unlike many quote-based vendors, Meltwater lists its cost factors. Its pricing FAQ says typical factors include:
- Breadth of sources and regions. Which media types, countries and languages you want monitored.
- Volume of data and workflows. How much content you track and how many processes you run on it.
- Number of users. Its standard terms limit use to the number of authorized users on your order.
- Integrations. API and MCP integrations appear on Enterprise and Agency.
- Onboarding and support needs. For “enterprise solutions or more complex setups,” such as custom integrations, data imports or multi-region configurations, “there may be a one-time implementation or onboarding charge,” which Meltwater says will be outlined in your proposal.
- Contract terms. Length and structure of the agreement.
- Modules chosen. Media monitoring, GenAI Lens (AI assistant tracking), social listening, influencer marketing and analytics can each be included or left out.
Meltwater says plans are “designed to be flexible and fully customizable,” and that changes during a contract, such as adding modules or expanding coverage, “are handled on a case-by-case basis.”
Contract, renewal and cancellation terms
Meltwater’s pricing FAQ says there’s “no one-size-fits-all term” but that “most partnerships are structured on annual agreements, with a minimum contract length of 12 months.” The Meltwater General Terms and Conditions for Meltwater News US Inc. (version dated April 5, 2025, listed as current) add the detail. Your order confirmation takes priority over these terms, so read both.
| Item | What the US terms say | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-renewal | The initial term renews automatically for terms of the same length, unless stated otherwise in the order confirmation | A 12-month contract becomes another 12 months if you do nothing |
| Notice to stop renewal | Written notice of non-renewal at least 60 days before the end of the current term | Put the deadline in your calendar the day you sign |
| Renewal price | Renewals are “at Meltwater’s then-current prices,” and special pricing applies only to the initial term | A first-year discount may not carry into year two |
| Invoicing | Invoiced for the full amount in advance, payable within 14 calendar days, unless the order says otherwise | Budget for the whole term upfront |
| Refunds | Payment obligations are non-cancelable and fees are non-refundable, except as the agreement expressly provides | You can’t cancel mid-term for a refund |
| Late payment | Meltwater may charge default interest and suspend access until payment | Pay on time to keep access |
| Ending early | Either party may terminate for a material breach not fixed within 30 days of written notice | There’s no general right to leave for convenience |
Meltwater publishes separate terms for other regions, such as Canada, the UK and Singapore, and says the terms that apply depend on the Meltwater entity on your order confirmation.
How to get a Meltwater quote, and what to ask
- Write down your coverage needs. List the countries, languages and media types (online news, print, broadcast, podcasts, social) you need. Meltwater names sources and regions among its cost factors.
- Decide which modules you need. Media monitoring alone is a different proposal from monitoring plus social listening, media relations and influencer tools.
- Request a demo or pricing. Meltwater offers “a free, human-guided demo” but no self-serve trial.
- Ask for these in writing:
- What’s the initial term, and is the 60-day non-renewal notice in my order confirmation?
- What will the renewal price be, and can it be capped?
- Is there a one-time onboarding or implementation charge?
- How many users are included, and what does each extra user cost?
- Which sources and regions are included, and which are extra?
- What support level comes with the plan?
- Compare at least one other proposal. See our media monitoring tools comparison for other options.
A worked example: building a true first-year cost
This is an illustrative scenario, not a real client.
A university communications office wants to track news and broadcast coverage in the US and two overseas markets, with three users. Before signing, its director:
- Asks for the proposal to list media monitoring, broadcast and the two extra regions separately.
- Adds any one-time onboarding charge to the subscription to get a year-one total, paid in advance.
- Asks sales to state the year-two price in the order confirmation, since first-term discounts don’t carry over.
- Diaries the non-renewal deadline, 60 days before the anniversary.
With those four numbers and dates, she can compare Meltwater fairly against a second vendor’s proposal.

Our free platform
This one is ours, so weigh that. Our free platform tags every page-one result for your name as positive, neutral or negative; watches for new reviews and mentions and alerts you when one needs a reply; tracks every result as owned pages climb and old ones slip; and reports back every month in plain English. It doesn’t monitor TV, radio, print or podcasts, and it doesn’t include a press database or press release distribution. It also doesn’t send review requests or offer webchat, payments, listings sync, integrations or AI replies, so it isn’t a Meltwater replacement for a PR team. If your worry is what people find when they search for you, start with a free reputation audit. If a news story is already causing damage, see our crisis management service.
Other options
Google Alerts is free and delivers results as it happens, at most once a day or at most once a week; our guide to Google Alerts for business shows how to set it up well. Brand24 publishes prices from $199 to $599 a month billed annually. Cision and Muck Rack, the PR suites most often compared with Meltwater, are both quote-based: Muck Rack says pricing “depends on a few factors specific to your team including the number of users.” Our guides to what Muck Rack costs and how Meltwater and Cision compare go further, and our Meltwater alternatives list covers more options.
