Talkwalker Alternatives: 8 Listening Tools Compared, Including Free Ones
Talkwalker alternatives compared from each vendor's own pages as of September 2026: Brandwatch, Meltwater, Sprout Social, Brand24, YouScan, Awario, Mention and free options.
The best Talkwalker alternatives depend on what you’re replacing. For another enterprise research platform, look at Brandwatch or Meltwater. For listening inside a social media suite, look at Sprout Social or Hootsuite. For published prices and a self-serve trial, Brand24 and Awario show their prices, and YouScan publishes its entry plan. If you mainly need to know what people see and say about you, free tools, including our own platform, may be enough.
Everything about each tool below comes from its own website, checked in September 2026. Our comparison is research-based: we haven’t run paid accounts side by side, and we don’t give star ratings or scores. Prices change, so check each vendor’s current pricing before you decide.
First, what Talkwalker is today
Talkwalker’s homepage now says “Talkwalker is now Lumen by Talkwalker,” and describes it as the same social listening and consumer intelligence platform with a new name. Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in April 2024; Hootsuite’s newsroom announced the deal on April 8, 2024. Hootsuite’s plans page lists Lumen by Talkwalker as a feature of its Enterprise plan.
As of September 2026, Talkwalker’s pricing page lists three plans, Core, Analyze and Business, under “Pick your plan to get a custom quote.” No prices are shown. Every plan includes unlimited users and professional onboarding, and the plans step up by non-sampled results volume (Analyze 2x Core, Business 6x), topics and channels, and historical data on Business. Our Talkwalker pricing guide covers the plans and contract in detail.
Why people look for Talkwalker alternatives
Talkwalker is a deep, capable platform. Teams that look elsewhere usually have practical reasons:
- No published prices. Every plan is a custom quote, so you can’t budget without a sales call.
- An annual contract with a notice window. Talkwalker’s Enterprise Terms of Service (July 29, 2025) say orders renew automatically for one-year periods unless you send a non-renewal notice to csm@talkwalker.com at least 60 days before the term ends. Talkwalker can raise fees at renewal; if it gives notice less than 90 days before the end, you get 30 days to decline.
- More than you need. AI agents, LLM Insights, forecasting and 187 languages are valuable for global brands. A regional business that wants alerts and a monthly report may not use most of it.
- The Hootsuite change. Some teams want to reconsider their tools after an ownership change, especially if they don’t use Hootsuite for publishing.

The free tools Talkwalker Alerts and Google Alerts are covered further down.
1. Our free platform (123 Reputation Management)
This one is ours, so weigh that. It isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Lumen by Talkwalker, and we’d rather say so up front.
Our free platform tags every page-one result for your name as positive, neutral or negative; watches for new reviews and mentions and alerts you when one needs a reply; tracks every result as owned pages climb and old ones slip; and reports back every month in plain English.
It doesn’t offer Boolean social listening, AI agents, forecasting, image recognition, historical archives or benchmarking across dozens of markets. It also doesn’t send review requests or offer webchat, payments, listings sync, integrations or AI replies. If the question you actually need answered is “what do people find when they look us up, and is anything new that needs a reply,” it may cover that at no cost. A free reputation audit is a good place to start.
2. Brandwatch
Brandwatch is the closest like-for-like enterprise alternative. Its plans page offers “standard to enterprise plans” for each of its solutions: Consumer Intelligence (Brandwatch Consumer Research), Social Media Management (formerly the Falcon suite), Influencer Marketing and Search Intelligence. No prices are published; you request a demo. The page presents Brandwatch alongside Cision.
Fair note: you swap one quote-based enterprise contract for another. If price transparency or contract length is why you’re leaving Talkwalker, Brandwatch won’t solve it. See our Brandwatch alternatives page for how it compares with the rest of the field.
3. Meltwater
Meltwater’s pricing page lists Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency plans, each through “Contact Sales.” Its FAQ says there is no self-serve free trial, that most agreements are annual “with a minimum contract length of 12 months,” and that complex setups may carry a one-time onboarding charge. Quotes depend on sources and regions, data volume, users, integrations, onboarding and support, and contract terms.
Fair note: Meltwater’s strength is media intelligence, so it suits PR and communications teams that want news and broadcast coverage alongside social. If you only need social listening, you may pay for coverage you won’t use. Our Meltwater pricing guide covers its contract terms.
4. Sprout Social
Sprout Social publishes per-seat prices: Essentials $79, Standard $199, Professional $299 and Advanced $399 a month billed annually (Essentials is $99 billed monthly), with Enterprise by quote. There’s a 30-day free trial with no credit card. Standard includes keyword and location monitoring and review management, with 10 brand keywords; Advanced raises that to 20 and adds sentiment in the Smart Inbox and Reviews. The pricing page says “Premium Analytics and Listening are each available as individual add-ons to the Standard plan and up,” with no add-on price shown.
Fair note: Sprout is a social media management suite first. Its full listening product is a separately priced add-on, and per-seat pricing grows with your team, where Talkwalker includes unlimited users. See our Sprout Social pricing guide.
5. Brand24
Brand24 is the most straightforward self-serve alternative. As of September 2026, its prices page lists Individual ($199 a month billed annually, $249 monthly; 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions a month), Team ($299 / $349; 7 keywords, 10,000 mentions), Pro ($399 / $499; 12 keywords, 40,000 mentions) and Business ($599 / $699; 25 keywords, 100,000 mentions). Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month billed annually. There’s a 14-day free trial, and the FAQ offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, excluding custom plans and deals negotiated with its sales team.
The plan table shows review sources on Pro and Business, and podcasts on Business only.
Fair note: keyword and mention caps are the trade-off for published prices. A brand with a common name, or a busy news week, can hit them. Our Brand24 pricing guide has the full plan breakdown.
6. Awario
Awario is the lowest-cost paid option here. Its pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month billed annually ($49 monthly) with 3 topics and 30,000 new mentions a month; Pro at $89 annually ($149 monthly) with 15 topics, 300,000 mentions and 10 team members; and Enterprise at $249 annually ($399 monthly) with 100 topics, 1,000,000 mentions and unlimited team members. Each topic can hold unlimited keywords, and Boolean search is listed.
The FAQ says the free trial gives you the Starter plan with no credit card, that you can cancel any time by contacting support, and that it can’t refund partial use or time left on a subscription. Our Awario pricing guide goes into the plans.
Fair note: Awario is a lower-cost monitoring tool; it doesn’t list the enterprise research, governance and AI features that Talkwalker’s Business plan offers.

YouScan publishes one price: Starter 3 at $499 a month billed annually, with 3 topics, up to 15,000 mentions a month, 10 Insights Copilot questions a month, and unlimited users, social searches, rules and alerts. Its unlimited plans, with as many topics as you need, unlimited sampled mentions, unlimited Copilot questions and API access, are quoted on request.
Fair note: 3 topics suits one brand and a couple of competitors. Larger portfolios will be on a quote, much like Talkwalker.
8. Mention
Mention sells one Company plan, labeled “Starting at” with no figure shown, through a demo. Its site also has a “Start a free trial” button. The plan covers social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube; news, blogs and forums; and 75+ review sites including Google, Facebook, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor. Historical data and API access are paid add-ons, and paying yearly gets “2 months free.” Mention’s terms say it is a brand of Agorapulse SAS.
Fair note: Mention’s own FAQ says it is retiring its Publish and Respond features in favor of Agorapulse, so treat it as a monitoring tool. See our Mention alternatives page if you’re comparing it too.
Free tools worth running alongside any of these
- Talkwalker Alerts. Talkwalker’s free tool still runs separately from Lumen. Its page says you can receive alerts at any email address, choose news, Twitter (X), blogs or discussion forums, pick from 22 languages and set frequency, including “As it happens.” It supports Boolean operators and delivers by email, RSS or Slack. Leaving the paid platform doesn’t mean giving this up.
- Google Alerts. Free. You can set how often you’re notified (as it happens, at most once a day or once a week), plus sources, language and region. It covers web pages rather than most social platforms. Our Google Alerts alternatives guide compares the free options.
How to choose a Talkwalker alternative
- Name the one job that matters most. Consumer research, crisis alerts and running social accounts need different tools. Pick the job first, then the tool.
- Check your notice date before anything else. With 60 days’ notice needed under Talkwalker’s standard terms, a switch usually has to be decided at least two months before renewal. Check your Authorization Form, because it can set different terms.
- Count your volume and topics. Talkwalker bundles unlimited users; Sprout charges per seat; Brand24, Awario and YouScan cap keywords, topics or mentions. Run free alerts for a few weeks to estimate how many mentions you actually get.
- List the sources you can’t do without. If broadcast and print matter, Meltwater stands out. If it’s review sites, check which plan includes them (Brand24 from Pro; Mention’s Company plan lists 75+). If it’s images and logos, look at YouScan.
- Ask about history and export. Find out whether you can export your Talkwalker data before the term ends, and whether the new tool can backfill history (Mention sells it as an add-on; Talkwalker lists extra history on Business).
- Trial with a real week of data. Where a trial exists, set up your actual brand queries in two tools at once and compare what each catches.
A worked example: stepping down from an enterprise contract
This is an illustrative scenario, not a real client.
A regional sporting-goods retailer bought Talkwalker’s Core plan two years ago for a product launch. Today its two-person marketing team uses it for weekly mention reports and the occasional complaint that spreads on Reddit. The renewal date is in four months.
- The team marks the 60-day notice deadline in its calendar and asks its customer success manager for a data export.
- It runs Talkwalker Alerts and Google Alerts for a month to see which mentions a free tool already catches.
- It trials Brand24 for 14 days and Awario’s free Starter trial with the same queries, noting which one catches the review-site and Reddit mentions it cares about.
- It keeps our free platform running to watch its search results and reviews.
- It decides before the notice deadline, with written prices from both vendors, rather than letting the contract renew by default.
