Brandwatch Alternatives: 7 Options Compared, Including Free Ones
Looking for Brandwatch alternatives? We compare Talkwalker, Meltwater, Sprout Social, Brand24, YouScan, Mention and our free platform on pricing, trials and fit, as of September 2026.
The best Brandwatch alternatives depend on why you’re leaving. If you want another enterprise research platform, look at Talkwalker (now Lumen by Talkwalker; Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in April 2024) or Meltwater. If you want listening inside a social media suite, look at Sprout Social. If you want published prices and a free trial, Brand24 and YouScan show prices on their sites. And if you mainly need to know what people see and say about you, free options, including our own platform, may cover it.
Everything below comes from each company’s own website, checked in September 2026. Our comparison is research-based: we haven’t run paid accounts side by side, and we don’t give star ratings or scores. Prices change, so check each vendor’s current pricing before you decide.
Why people look for Brandwatch alternatives
Brandwatch is a large, capable suite. The reasons teams look elsewhere tend to be practical rather than about quality:
- No published prices. Brandwatch’s plans page describes “standard to enterprise plans” but shows no prices, so every conversation starts with a demo. Our Brandwatch pricing guide explains how its quotes work.
- Prepaid annual contracts. The Cision Master Subscription Agreement that Brandwatch links to says fees are invoiced annually in advance and are non-cancelable and non-refundable unless your order says otherwise.
- More than you need. Brandwatch sells Consumer Intelligence, Social Media Management, Influencer Marketing and Search Intelligence. A small team that only wants alerts and a monthly report may not use most of it.
- Complexity. Research tools built for analysts reward time spent writing queries and building dashboards. Some teams would rather have something simpler.

1. Our free platform (123 Reputation Management)
This one is ours, so weigh that. It isn’t a like-for-like Brandwatch replacement, and we’d rather say so up front.
Our free platform tags every page-one result for your name as positive, neutral or negative; watches for new reviews and mentions and alerts you when one needs a reply; tracks every result as owned pages climb and old ones slip; and reports back every month in plain English. It doesn’t search a historical archive of social posts, run Boolean queries, schedule content or manage influencers, and it doesn’t send review requests or offer webchat, payments, listings sync, integrations, AI replies, or broadcast monitoring and press databases. If your real question is “what do people see when they look us up, and what’s new?”, it answers that for free. If you need consumer research across millions of posts, you need one of the paid tools below.

2. Talkwalker (Lumen by Talkwalker)
Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in April 2024. Talkwalker’s site now calls its product Lumen by Talkwalker, and Hootsuite’s listening page calls it “Talkwalker by Hootsuite.” Its pricing page offers three plans, Core, Analyze and Business, each with a custom quote. Core includes social listening and media monitoring, custom dashboards, reports and alerts, AI summaries, an AI agent and LLM Insights (how AI assistants talk about your brand). Analyze and Business add more non-sampled results volume, topics and historical data.
Every plan comes with unlimited users and professional onboarding. Talkwalker says it covers 150 million data sources, 30+ social platforms and 187 languages. On Hootsuite’s side, Lumen by Talkwalker is listed only on Hootsuite’s Enterprise plan.
Fair note: like Brandwatch, it’s quote-based, so it solves a depth problem rather than a budget one. Our Lumen by Talkwalker pricing guide covers the plans and renewal terms. If Talkwalker doesn’t fit either, our guide to tools that replace Talkwalker covers similar options.
3. Meltwater
Meltwater started in media monitoring and now sells media intelligence, social listening, AI visibility tracking, media relations and influencer marketing in one platform. Its pricing page lists Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency plans, all through “Contact Sales.” Meltwater says it “does not offer a self-serve free trial” and that most contracts are annual, “with a minimum contract length of 12 months.”
Its media monitoring page describes coverage of 400,000+ newspapers, magazines and trade publications, 200M+ online publications, podcasts, and broadcast across all 210 US media markets. That news and broadcast depth is the main reason to pick it over a social-first tool. See our Meltwater review for more, or our guide to Meltwater alternatives if it’s more than you need.
Fair note: its standard US terms auto-renew at Meltwater’s then-current prices unless you give 60 days’ notice, so it doesn’t fix a contract concern.
4. Sprout Social
Sprout Social is a social media management suite with listening sold as an add-on. As of September 2026 its plans are Essentials ($79 per seat a month billed annually, $99 monthly), Standard ($199), Professional ($299) and Advanced ($399), all per seat a month billed annually, plus a custom Enterprise plan. There’s a 30-day free trial with no credit card.
Standard includes keyword and location monitoring and review management. Its fuller Listening product (AI insights, Smart Categories, sentiment tracking and spike alerts) is “available as individual add-ons to the Standard plan and up,” with no add-on price published. Our Sprout Social pricing guide covers the details.
Fair note: the seat-based model adds up quickly for larger teams, and the listening add-on price isn’t public.
5. Brand24
Brand24 is the most transparent option here. Its plans are Individual ($199 a month billed annually, $249 monthly; 3 keywords, 2K mentions a month), Team ($299 / $349; 7 keywords, 10K mentions), Pro ($399 / $499; 12 keywords, 40K mentions) and Business ($599 / $699; 25 keywords, 100K mentions). Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month billed annually. There’s a 14-day free trial.
Every plan includes AI sentiment analysis, and the higher tiers add real-time updates, AI insights and topics. Brand24 lists integrations with Slack and Microsoft Teams.
Fair note: keyword and mention caps matter. A brand with a common name, or a busy week, can hit them.
6. YouScan
YouScan publishes one price: its Starter 3 plan is $499 a month billed annually, with 3 topics, up to 15,000 mentions a month, 10 Insights Copilot questions a month, and unlimited users, searches and alerts. Its unlimited plans, which add visual insights (image analysis of logos and scenes) and audience insights, are quoted on request.
Fair note: the entry plan’s 3 topics suits one brand and a couple of competitors, not a large portfolio.
7. Mention
Mention sells a single Company plan through a demo, with a free trial offered on its site. Its pricing page says the plan covers social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube; news, blogs and forums; and 75+ review sites including Google, Facebook, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor. Historical data is a paid add-on. Paying yearly gets “2 months free.”
Fair note: we couldn’t read the plan’s price from the page text, so ask for it in writing. Our Mention cost guide sets out the plan, add-ons and notice periods.

Get a free auditHow to choose a Brandwatch alternative
- Name the one job that matters most. Research (what do consumers think about a category?), protection (tell me fast when something goes wrong) and publishing (run our social accounts) need different tools.
- List the sources you can’t do without. If TV, radio and print coverage matter, Meltwater stands out. If it’s Reddit, TikTok and review sites, a social-first tool may be enough.
- Count your people. Unlimited-user plans (Talkwalker, YouScan, Brand24 from Team up) favor larger teams. Per-seat pricing (Sprout Social) favors small ones.
- Check the contract before the features. Ask for term length, renewal wording, notice period and whether you can export your data.
- Trial with a real week of data. Where a trial exists, set up your actual brand queries and compare what each tool catches.
A worked example: matching the tool to the team
This is an illustrative scenario, not a real client.
A 40-person software company is paying for Brandwatch but mostly uses it for weekly mention reports and crisis alerts. Its two-person comms team lists what it actually uses, then trials Brand24 for 14 days with the same keywords and checks whether Sprout Social’s Standard plan plus the Listening add-on would also replace its separate scheduling tool. It keeps our free platform running for search results and reviews. The team decides at renewal, with written quotes in hand, rather than mid-contract.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free alternative to Brandwatch?
There isn’t a free tool that matches Brandwatch’s research depth. For basic monitoring, Google Alerts is free and covers web pages, and our free platform tracks your page-one search results, reviews and mentions. Several paid tools, including Brand24 and Sprout Social, offer free trials.
Which Brandwatch alternatives publish their prices?
As of September 2026, Brand24, Sprout Social and Hootsuite publish prices, and YouScan publishes its Starter 3 price. Talkwalker, Meltwater and Mention’s Company plan are quoted through sales.
Is Talkwalker owned by Hootsuite?
Yes. Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in April 2024. Talkwalker’s own site now calls the product Lumen by Talkwalker, and within Hootsuite it’s listed only on the Enterprise plan.
Is Meltwater cheaper than Brandwatch?
Neither publishes prices, so there’s no public way to compare. Both quote based on your needs. Get written quotes for the same scope from each and compare the first-year total and the renewal terms.
Can I switch from Brandwatch mid-contract?
Under the standard agreement Brandwatch links to, fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable unless your order says otherwise, so most teams plan a switch around the renewal date. Check your order form for the term and any notice period.
